Too Faced: Shake Your Palm Palms Review

Shake your palm, palms! Shake your bon bons! Shake whatever you have because Too Faced’s new beach getaway themed palette has arrived. The Shake Your Palm, Palms palette is eight shades of fun in the sun eyeshadow goodness. This palette is inspired by getting away from it all and the shades couldn’t be more travel friendly. Let’s see how the Shake Your Palm Palms palette performs!

Too Faced describes Shake Your Palm Palms as “Pack your bags and shake your palm palms – we’re going someplace pretty! This is the one palette you can depend on to create any look you need with a collection of go-anywhere rich neutrals in matte, shimmer and pearl finishes. Smells like a Peach & Cream vacation dream”.

Shades

R & R (light satin-peach) – This shiny champagne shade is great for highlighting the inner corner or under the brow bone. R & R is also pigmented enough to be used all over the lid. R & R gave me the extra glow I needed and lasted for around 5 hours before fading.

Do Not Disturb (bright peachy-pink) – This shade is the only disappointment in the palette. The pigmentation is weak and the application is patchy. I had to pack on several layers to see any colour on my eyes. I won’t be bothering Do Not Disturb very often.

Tough Coconuts (matte golden-brown) – Too Faced mattes are always great! Tough Coconuts blends well and doesn’t get muddy when mixed with other matte shades. This shade lasted for 7+ hours before fading over primer.

Suns Out Buns Out (warm copper)  – This shade is lovely. Suns Out Buns Out is not only a great eyeshadow but a hilarious shade name. The shadow applied well with minimal fallout. Suns Out Buns Out had good, even pigmentation and lasted for 6+ hours before fading.

Get Laid Over (matte warm-beige) – This is my favourite matte in the palette. Get Laid Over is a perfect soft crease shade for everyday wear. Get Laid Over blends nicely but isn’t quite as pigmented as Tough Coconuts. This shade lasted 6+ hours before fading.

I’m Outta Here (deep olive-gold) – This shade is so gorgeous! I love a good green and this one is a total winner. I’m Outta Here applies true to colour with almost no fallout – it’s a dream shade!

Vitamin Sea (peachy-gold) – Vitamin Sea isn’t peachy at all to me. The shadow looks like a true gold when applied. Vitamin Sea is beautiful, I’ve used this shade most so far and it’s stunning on the eyes. It applied well and lasts for a solid 6+ before fading.

Let’s Bounce (matte deep-brown) – Some Too Faced deep mattes are chalky and more difficult to blend but Let’s Bounce performs well. The shadow is super pigmented and lasted for 6+ hours before fading over primer.

The six square pans contain 0.8g/0.02 Oz. of product each. The two rectangular pans contain 0.95g/0.03 Oz. of product each.

Packaging

Too Faced never misses on packaging and concepts. Shake Your Palm Palms is packaged in a adorable tin case covered in palm trees. The lettering and the palms trees on the palette are raised so you can feel the details of the palm leaves on the cover. The packaging is the same style as the Tickled Peach palette Too Faced released last year. I was hoping Too Faced would improve upon Tickled Peach and print the shade names on the inside of the packaging of Shake Your Palm Palms…but they didn’t. I will forever be stuck flipping the palette over to find the shade names, though they could easily be printed under the shade.

Thoughts

Shake Your Palm Palms is a great little palette. This little palm tree has every shade needed to make a complete look. I recently took Shake Your Palm Palms on a trip to New York and I had everything I needed in a sturdy, compact palette. This palette was designed with travel in mind and Too Faced hit the mark perfectly. It has enough variety to create multiple looks and the added bonus of not using much space in a suitcase.

As I mentioned, Shake Your Palm Palms is the same style packaging as last year’s Tickled Peach. Though, the similarities don’t end with packaging the shade selection is very similar. Both palettes contain a champagne peach, two warm brown mattes, a rose gold shimmer and a shimmery pink shade. It wasn’t until after I purchases Shake Your Palm Palms that I realized how similar they look (the photos on Sephora made SYPP look much cooler in tone). The two palettes are so similar I don’t think it’s necessary to own both.

It would have been nice to see Too Faced change things up more with Shake Your Palm Palms, but overall the quality is great, so I can’t complain too much. If I had to choose between the two palettes I would pick Shake Your Palm Palms. I prefer the olive green and the gold shade. I also prefer the two brown mattes being a bit more neutral. Tickled Peach is cuter, but the shades are a better fit for me in Shake Your Palm Palms.

Shake Your Palm Palms is the perfect pocket neutral palette. I’ve used it a bunch, so far and I’ve loved it. I’ve also used it on other people and the shades worked on everyone. Though, I wish it had a smiling, animated, palm tree on it somewhere. Shake Your Palm Palms is a winner.

Until Next Time,

Kayla
