Too Faced: Cinnamon Bear Collection Review

Introducing the Too Faced Cinnamon Bear Limited Edition Eye, Cheek and Lip Makeup Collection. This collection has everything! Adorable embossed bears, cinnamon scented lipstick and a cute little red bag perfect for travel. I’m a big fan of berry tones and pink eyeshadow, so this collection was basically tailor made for me. Let’s find out if this cinnamon themed palette can warm my heart.

Too Faced describes this set as “This set includes a limited-edition Cinnamon Bear Palette of eight multi-finish eyeshadows and a pink satin blush. It also includes a Melted Matte Liquified Longwear Lipstick in an exclusive warm copper-red shade, Cinnamon Bear, and a limited-edition Cinnamon Bear makeup bag”.

Products Included

Let’s start with the very red toned eyeshadow palette. There are 8 eyeshadows included in this set. The four mattes included are Cereal Milk (light pale pink), Chocolate Dipped (warm deep brown), Red Hots (warm brick red) and Bear Hug (warm medium brown). Along with four shimmer shades, Slow Burn (medium plum), Sweet N’ Spicy (warm brown with red under tone), Cinnamon Sugar (warm peachy pink) and Pop of Chili (dark reddish pink).

As usual, the matte shadows included in this set performed very well. I have no complaints about the matte shadows at all. All four shades were richly pigmented and not powdery at all. All four matte blended well and were very easy to work with. I got 6+ hours of weartime out of the matte shades before I noticed creasing on fading. Cereal Milk looked more pink when applied than it appeared in the pan, but that was the only issue (if I can even call it that) with these four shades.

The shimmer shadows were nice, but didn’t perform quite as well as the mattes. My favourite shimmer shades were Sweet N’ Spicy and Pop of Chili, both shades had great pigmentation and easily adhered to my eye lid. Slow Burn is less sparkly than the other shimmer shades. Slow Burn had decent pigmentation and blended well enough. On the other hand, I found Cinnamon Sugar difficult to work with. I had to pack on tons of product to keep even pigmentation. After packing on several layers, I still wasn’t happy with the way it looked. Fall out was an issue with the shimmer shades. I found it difficult to remove the fallout from my face. In addition, these shimmers did crease a bit after a few hours and started to breakdown on my eyes after 6ish hours.

Each eyeshadow pan contains 8 x 0.02 oz/ 0.8 g of product.

Moving on to the blush. Cinnamon Bear is a beautiful, luminous, pink shade. This blush has a lovely subtle shimmer to it. The texture is on the firmer side and it doesn’t kick up much product when a brush is dipped in. The blush is surprisingly pigmented and blendable. This is my first Too Faced blush and I’m pleasantly surprised by the quality.

The Cinnamon Bear blush contains 0.12 oz/ 3.5 g of product.

Last, but certainly not least, we have the Cinnamon Bear lipstick. This gorgeous red lipstick is fantastic. I’m not a big fan of liquid lipsticks, but I do usually get along with the Too Faced Melted Matte formula, so I was happy a full size was included in this set. Cinnamon Bear has a great texture, the formula is not too thick or too thin. It goes on opaque with one swipe and doesn’t cling to dry patches on my lips or sink into lines. I was super impressed with this lipstick! The wear time was 7+ hours for me and it only needed to be touched up a little bit after eating.

Cinnamon Bear is a full sized product and contains 0.23 oz/ 7 mL of product.

Packaging

It’s no surprise Too Faced released a cute themed collection. The palette is adorable. There’s a happy embossed cinnamon bear on the front of the palette. The bear also features on the inside of the palette on the mirror. The palette is small, lightweight and compact. The packaging is nice, but I would prefer if the blush was separate from the palette. I think I would use the blush a lot more if it had been in a separate container. The blush is very pretty and I would prefer to store it with my other blushes. I’ll leave it in the palette for now, but I might depott it later on.

The Cinnamon Bear lipstick features the standard Melted Matte packaging. It does have the little cinnamon bear on the applicator, so there’s still a fun detail on it. I do find myself reaching for this lipstick often because the red packaging is so eye catching. Plus, it’s the holiday season, so red lips just make sense.

Thoughts

This is a really fun set. I was immediately drawn to it when I first saw photos of it. This collection is different from what Too Faced usually releases for holiday, so I’m glad to see the brand put out something different. I might be the only one, but this set reminds me more of Valentine’s Day than Christmas. I really like the pink and red, but I think this could have easily been released in February around Valentine’s Day and it would have stood out and been easy to market.

Speaking of red and pink, if you aren’t into those colours – this set isn’t for you. Personally, I really like red and pink eyelooks. Overtime, I figured out how to make red tones work for me, so I really enjoy this palette. But, this palette doesn’t have much variety. I did find most of the looks I created with this palette came out looking similar. It was hard to get shadow combinations to look distinct. I get Too Faced was going with a theme here, but Cereal Milk could have been swapped for a more interesting shade.

Unfortunately, the there is no cinnamon scent I can detect in the eyeshadow palette. The lipstick does have a faint cinnamon smell and a sweet taste to it. The palette doesn’t smell like cinnamon, but the little makeup bag included with this set does have a very strong plastic smell. The smell is very strong and off putting. The bag is really cute, but I don’t really want to use it until the scent fades away.

Let’s talk about the value more money Cinnamon Bear offers. This set is a great way to try different products Too Faced offers for a good price. The whole set retails for $$39.00USD/$49.00CAD. A Melted Matte lipstick purchase separately costs $22.00USD/$29.00CAD alone. A full sized Too Faced blush usually costs around $30.00USD/$40.00CAD. The blush included in the Cinnamon Bear set is about a 1/3 of the size of a regular sized Too Faced blush. The eyeshadow pans in this set are also a good size. Usually, Too Faced eyeshadow palette contain 0.03 oz or product and this set contains 0.02 oz of product, so they aren’t miniature pans by any means. All in all, this set a great value. You’re getting apalette, blush and lipstick for the price of a regular lipstick and half a blush. So, the palette is almost free! Hooray for value sets that are actually a good value!

Overall, this a great set for the money. The Cinnamon Bear set was at the top of my wish list for holiday 2020 and I’m stoked to have it in my collection. I’ll have adorable cinnamon bears dancing in my quarantine Christmas dreams. Check out the set in Too Faced’s website here or on Sephora’s website here.

  1. Those colors look beautiful on you! I was surprised to see this as a Christmas rather than Valentine’s palette as well. It’s too bad it doesn’t smell like cinnamon, I can almost imagine the smell just looking at it, and it’s yummy. Great review!

  2. These pink-red eyeshadows look great on you! I so love these colors but I don´t feel too comfortable wearing them, soft pink shades suit me better, but after reading your post I might give them a go. Thank you for sharing this review!
