Too Faced: Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick in Chihuahua Review

Great deal alert! The other day I was browsing around Marshall’s – (my new favourite store) and I happened upon a diamond in the rough. I scored Too Faced’s, Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick in Chihuahua for only $12.99 CAD. I’m hoping this lipstick’s excessively long name directly correlates to wear time. Let’s find out how Chihuahua performs!

Too Faced describes this product as “Using exclusive technology to keep cauldrons of molten lipsticks liquid and creamy Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick comfortably coats lips in burst of intense colour that lasts for hours. Get the staying power of a stain, the intense colour of a liquid lipstick and the high shine of a gloss in one long-wear formula”.

Shade

Chihuahua – is a cream, warm, brown shade. Chihuahua may very well be the most perfect lipstick shade I have ever purchased. This shade blends with my natural lip colour almost seamlessly with just one swipe. I love the way this lipstick looks on me. Chihuahua is definitely a “my lips but exceedingly better” type shade. I can see myself wearing this lipstick everyday which is rare for me.

Too Faced’s Melted formula is awesome. I’ve tried other shades in Too Faced’s Melted range such as Sell Out and Queen B but Chihuahua is my favourite. The formula is so comfortable to wear – I almost forget I’m wearing it. There is minimal transfer which is so convenient – two thumbs way up. Chihuahua has staying power of around 5 hours before noticeably fading. Plus, the Melted formula gets bonus points for being moisturizing. In a nutshell, this lipstick is an all around superstar!

Chihuahua contains 12ml/0.40 fl. oz. of product.

Packaging

The packaging on this lipstick is unique. The velvet tip applicator was new for me. It took me a few tries to get the hang of using it but once I did, the velvet tip makes applying the product foolproof. I’ve always struggled applying lipstick smoothly but this packaging has made it simple. It only takes squeezing a tiny bit of lipstick out onto the applicator to get a nice, even application without any hassle. The tube is firm enough that extra product doesn’t come flying out when you squeeze it.

I was worried the velvet applicator would get gross and crusty once I used it but that hasn’t been the case. The applicator is still soft and easy to use a month after purchasing it. I would definitely purchase more Too Faced lipsticks with this packaging.

Thoughts

The colour shown on the outer packaging is quite different to how Chihuahua truly looks. The packaging is a dusty rose colour but, in actuality, the lipstick is more of a warm brown. I know it’s hard to match packaging to the lipstick but it would be nicer if the colours matched better.

I enjoy the packaging a lot more than I expected. The box touts the fact that there is “no brush needed” with this lipstick. They’re not wrong, it is handy to have a liquid lipstick that doesn’t require a brush. I wish Too Faced would release more of their lipstick in this packaging.

On another note, the shade name itself is cute but also presents some challenges. I’m trying to avoid writing Chihuahua looks good on my lips. The Chihuahua lipstick does not look like a dog on my face. With that said, my mind immediately pictures a dog in the place my lips should be when I think Chihuahua lipstick…but I digress.

I picked up this lipstick at Marshall’s on sale for only $12.99 CAD but it can also be purchases on Too Faced’s website for $22.50 CAD. At regular price this lipstick is pricey but a little product goes a long way so it will last for a very long time.

Until next time,

Kayla
