My Makeup Collection: Urban Decay Naked Palettes

My Urban Decay collection started with an icon – the original Naked palette. That fateful day was the beginning of the longest makeup relationship of my life. I have since expanded my Naked collection to include Naked 2, Naked 3, Naked Smoky and most recently Naked Heat. Each palette signifies a chapter in my personal makeup saga. These palettes have been well-loved in my collection and the nostalgia is real for each palette. Let’s check out my Naked collection!

IPSY: February Glam Bag

It’s that time again! My monthly bag of make makeup mystery has arrived – my February IPSY Glam Bag is here. I got a really fun assortment of products this month. I’m always happy when I score a brush so I was satisfied with my February bag from the get go. Alongside the brush, I also got a mascara, eyeshadow, foundation, and moisturizer. I basically ended up with a full face of makeup in one IPSY bag. Let’s dive into this bag and checkout the products.

Spring has sprung with the latest collection from MAC Cosmetics Boom, Boom, Bloom! This has gotta be the best makeup collection name of all time. There’s so much energy in that title. Marc Jacobs Beauty: Eye-Conic Edgitorial Palette Review

Presenting! Edgitorial, the Eye-Conic Multi-Finish Eyeshadow palette by Marc Jacobs Beauty. This grungy, green palette is so sleek (and dare I say edgy). The deep olive tones running throughout this palette give me serious punk rock vibes. This palette has been in my collection for over a year but I recently rediscovered it. Getting reacquainted with Edgitorial gave me that new palette feeling, so I thought I would review it. Let’s see how Edgitorial performs, (it’s so hard to keep typing Edgitorial correctly).

Anastasia Beverly Hills: Sultry Eyeshadow Palette Review

So…I caved. I bought the Sultry palette from Anastasia Beverly Hills. I’ve been eyeing this palette for months. I stalked Sultry online, I would go checkout how it looked in person at Sephora (it looked good) – but I never went all the way. I convinced myself I didn’t need Sultry in my life. Then the price finally dropped! I scored this gorgeous palette on sale for $35.00 CAD at Sephora in 2018. Let’s find out how this cool toned dreamboat performs.

Tarte: Hamptons Weekender Contour Palette Review

I’ve never been to the Hamptons. However, I imagine the experience would be full of swanky summer homes, sunny beach days and farmers’ markets as far as the eye can see (or I assume so based on the shades names in this palette). Tarte’s Hamptons Weekender contour palette seeks to provide a travel friendly face palette perfect for a weekend getaway. Let’s find out if Hamptons Weekender is a true weekender warrior!

IPSY: January Glam Bag

My monthly bag of makeup mystery has arrived – my January IPSY bag is here. I was really happy with the products I received in this months bag. Though, for some reason they included a nail polish (again). In any event, four out of five interesting products isn’t bad so let’s dive into January’s IPSY Glam Bag.

Ranked + Reviewed: My 2018 Eyeshadow Purchases

I thought it would interesting to take a look back at the palettes I bought last year. Last year was a palette frenzy and I ended getting caught up in it. Brands were releasing new palettes left, right and centre. So, I had no choice but to indulged in a few (too many) new eyeshadow palettes. When 2018 was all said and done, I had nine new palettes in my collection. I bought all these palettes for different reasons and I love them all – (but not equally). I’ve ranked my 2018 palettes from worst to best, so let’s check out the list.

Huda Beauty: Emerald Obsessions Review

Glistening green – this palette is gorgeous. I feel like I should be strapping on my ruby-red slippers and running off to the Emerald City! I’ve dreamt of an entirely green palette for so long. My makeup dreams came true when Huda Beauty released the Emerald Obsessions palette. This is my first Huda Beauty purchase – go green or go home, right? Let’s find out if Emerald Obsession lives up to the Huda hype!

The Balm Cosmetics: Foiled Again! Superhero Eyeshadow Review

I love the Balm Cosmetics. The Balm pours so much thought and originality into every product they release. The Foiled Again: Foil Eyeshadow Palette combines two of my favourite things – eyeshadow and superheroes. The cherry on top of this shimmer shadow sundae is the shades are superhero quality. Doing my makeup with Foiled Again makes me feel like I have superhuman eyeshadow skills. Let’s crack open this super palette and see what’s inside!

Swatch Gallery: My Urban Decay Lipstick Collection

Dusty rose, mauves and the occasionally pop of outrageous colour – that sums up my lipstick tendencies. I’m not as adventurous as I’d like to be when it comes to lipstick. I usually stick to neutrals, (medium mauve and me go together in perfect harmony). I own far too many neutral lipsticks but somehow I can always justify picking up another – (albeit slightly different), shade.

IPSY: December 2018 Glam Bag

My monthly bag of makeup mystery has arrived – my IPSY bag for December is in! My December Glam Bag came in the mail a few weeks ago but it’s taken me awhile to write this post. I wasn’t really interested in playing with my December Glam Bag products. I received a great brush this months which I was pumped about but the other products were underwhelming. Despite being bored by my December IPSY items, I will test them for science reasons. Let’s jump into my December Glam Bag!

DELECTABLE BY CAKE BEAUTY:Iced Gingerbread Hand Cream

During a frigid Winnipeg winter it’s necessary to have a moisturizing hand cream. This Cake Beauty hand cream isn’t too sticky, it has a smooth texture that sinks into my skin. The product itself is nice but the ginger smell it gives off is in a word – overpowering. I had originally planned to keep this product in my desk at work but the smell is way too strong. I work in a scent free office, there’s no way I could get away with using a product this heavily scented.

F.A.R.A.H BRUSHES: Tapered Blending Brush 35E

I love getting brushes in my IPSY bag – every time I get one it’s $18.00 I don’t need to spend. I definitely feel brushes are the best value I get out of IPSY. Usually the price of one high-end brush is equivalent to how much I pay for IPSY each month. I always feel like I’ve gotten my moneys worth out of IPSY when I get a brush. I’ve been using this particular brush for all over blending and diffusing the edges on my eyeshadow. The bristles are soft and the handle is very lightweight (it feels kinda cheap), but this F.A.R.A.H. brush gets the job done.

CIATÉ LONDON – Glitter Flip Transforming Glitter Liquid Lipstick in Infamous

I ended up swapping this lipstick with a friend of mine who also has an IPSY subscription. The shade is a medium red with shimmer – not a colour I would wear regularly. I have a few other Ciate London liquid lipsticks and I never reach for them. The formula is nicely pigmented but during the winter months my lips are too dry to use liquid lipsticks. I was much happier with the LUXIE blending brush I traded for.

STOWAWAY: Effortless Eyeliner Spice
This Stowaway liner was another lacklustre. I have so many eyeliners and I’m picky about the formulas I like. This liner was quite stiff and tough to apply. I had to push really hard on my eyelid to get product to transfer to my lid. It was even hard to swatch on my hard. The medium brown colour of this liner is pretty but I usually stick with basic black liner. I doubt I’ll be getting much use out of this eyeliner.

December’s Glam Bag wasn’t a great mix of products. IPSY loaded the December Glam Bags with 6 products – up from the usual 5. I ended up with an extra sample but I didn’t feel any further ahead. I’m still debating if I’ll keep my IPSY subscription. The December Glam Bag I received is making me think I’ll cancel sooner rather than later.

Swatch Gallery: Kat Von D MetalMatte Mini

I’ve been playing with the idea of creating a Swatch Gallery on my blog. The MetalMatte mini has been in my collection since early last year. The shadows are stunning so I thought it would be a good palette to use in my first swatch post. So here goes nothing – my first swatch gallery post.

Top 5: Makeup Discoveries of 2018

2018 was a fun year for makeup, I experimented with new products this year from a range of brands. Surprisingly, the products I tried for the first time were the ones that impressed me the most. These products became staples in my makeup routine. Most of the products that I discovered this year weren’t necessarily new to the makeup market but they were new to me. Without further ado, let’s dive into my favourite makeup discoveries of 2018.

Urban Decay: On The Run Palette in (Shortcut) Review

Urban Decay never fails to grab my attention with their eyeshadow palettes. Lately, I’ve been trying to add functional palettes with lower shade counts to my collection. For that reason, I was beyond pumped when I saw the On The Run palettes announced. I had a hard time choosing which of the three new On the Run palettes to pick up – (I wanted them all). In the end, the rust and rose tones were speaking to me so I settled on Shortcut.
