Makeup Resurrection: Top 5 Palettes I Need to Use More

I own enough eyeshadow to last until the end of my days. Some products catch my attention and manage to stay at the top of my makeup drawer. Other palettes I only use a few times and they end up ghosted or forgotten. These palettes have been relegated to my makeup graveyard. I want to resurrect these palettes, get them back into my regular makeup rotation and rekindle the feeling of excitement I had when I first purchased them. Let’s take a lot at a few lesser loved palettes in my collection.

Top 5: Brands I Tried in 2020 for the First Time

Finally, the never ending year is coming to as close! 2020 wasn’t what anyone wanted, but during quarantine I had more extra time than usual to try new makeup products. I explored several new brands I’d never tried before. I thought it would be fun to look back on the new brands I purchased from in 2020. Some of these brands won’t be new to many people, but they were new to me. Let’s take a look back at some of the brands I tested in 2020!

My Makeup Collection: Urban Decay Naked Palettes

My Urban Decay collection started with an icon – the original Naked palette. That fateful day was the beginning of the longest makeup relationship of my life. I have since expanded my Naked collection to include Naked 2, Naked 3, Naked Smoky and most recently Naked Heat. Each palette signifies a chapter in my personal makeup saga. These palettes have been well-loved in my collection and the nostalgia is real for each palette. Let’s check out my Naked collection!

Marc Jacobs Beauty: Eye-Conic Edgitorial Palette Review

Presenting! Edgitorial, the Eye-Conic Multi-Finish Eyeshadow palette by Marc Jacobs Beauty. This grungy, green palette is so sleek (and dare I say edgy). The deep olive tones running throughout this palette give me serious punk rock vibes. This palette has been in my collection for over a year but I recently rediscovered it. Getting reacquainted with Edgitorial gave me that new palette feeling, so I thought I would review it. Let’s see how Edgitorial performs, (it’s so hard to keep typing Edgitorial correctly).

Ranked + Reviewed: My 2018 Eyeshadow Purchases

I thought it would interesting to take a look back at the palettes I bought last year. Last year was a palette frenzy and I ended getting caught up in it. Brands were releasing new palettes left, right and centre. So, I had no choice but to indulged in a few (too many) new eyeshadow palettes. When 2018 was all said and done, I had nine new palettes in my collection. I bought all these palettes for different reasons and I love them all – (but not equally). I’ve ranked my 2018 palettes from worst to best, so let’s check out the list.

Swatch Gallery: My Urban Decay Lipstick Collection

Dusty rose, mauves and the occasionally pop of outrageous colour – that sums up my lipstick tendencies. I’m not as adventurous as I’d like to be when it comes to lipstick. I usually stick to neutrals, (medium mauve and me go together in perfect harmony). I own far too many neutral lipsticks but somehow I can always justify picking up another – (albeit slightly different), shade.

Swatch Gallery: Kat Von D MetalMatte Mini

I’ve been playing with the idea of creating a Swatch Gallery on my blog. The MetalMatte mini has been in my collection since early last year. The shadows are stunning so I thought it would be a good palette to use in my first swatch post. So here goes nothing – my first swatch gallery post.

2018 was a fun year for makeup, I experimented with new products this year from a range of brands. Surprisingly, the products I tried for the first time were the ones that impressed me the most. Urban Decay’s Naked Petite Heat has completed my Naked Basics collection! This little fireball was on sale at Sephora for 50% a few weeks back and I decided to pick it up. Who can resist an Urban Decay palette priced at only $18.00 CAD – I certainly can’t. This mini Naked Heat is packed with shades to support any warm, fiery eye look.

Naked Cherry: Purchase or Pass?

Over the years, I’ve collected a small museums worth of Urban Decay products. Myself like so many other makeup enthusiasts got my start in high end makeup with the original Naked Palette. I currently own 5 of the 6 previous Naked palettes. The more recent additions to the Naked Collection haven’t excited me but my desire to complete my set is strong. Should I cave to my desire to buy Naked Cherry and collect them all?
